Energy Upgrade California Roadshow Launches Statewide Tour
The California Center for Sustainable Energy (CCSE) is taking energy education for homeowners on the road throughout California with the sendoff of the Energy Upgrade California Roadshow on a statewide tour departing San Diego on Thursday, Nov. 1.
CCSE’s Energy Upgrade California Roadshow is a mobile exhibit in a trailer designed to inform and inspire Californians to learn about and install energy-saving improvements in their homes. It promotes the concepts and benefits of Energy Upgrade California™, a program of the California Public Utilities Commission and California Energy Commission to reduce residential energy use, curb greenhouse gas emissions and create more comfortable and healthy homes.
The Energy Upgrade California Roadshow will be unveiled during an event from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at CCSE’s Kearny Mesa headquarters at 8690 Balboa Ave., San Diego. California Energy Commissioner Andrew McAllister and Irene Stillings, former CCSE executive director, will be among the guest speakers.
Energy Upgrade California provides a “whole house” approach that focuses on a house as a system and looks at how various elements affect energy use. The program presents residents with an array of improvements to increase home health, comfort and safety while saving money on their utility bills.
”By using the whole-house performance approach, homeowners can improve their energy efficiency with deeper energy reductions and achieve higher energy cost savings,” said Rob Wilder, CCSE interim executive director. “The Roadshow is a one-stop information resource for Californians to learn how Energy Upgrade California can help them understand their options to make the best energy decisions and improvements.”
Through Energy Upgrade California, local governments and utilities are supporting a suite of consumer and contractor resources including incentives, rebates and financing options. Rebates range from $1,000 to $4,000, depending on the energy savings achieved.
The Energy Upgrade California Roadshow is funded in part by the Department of Energy in support of the goals of its Better Buildings Neighborhood Program. It was built by CCSE, an independent nonprofit organization based in San Diego that accelerates the adoption of clean and efficient energy solutions. The initial statewide tour is supported by the California Public Utilities Commission.
The Energy Upgrade California Roadshow will be visiting cities from San Diego to Santa Clara counties. To check when it will be in your area, or to simply learn more about the exhibit and Energy Upgrade California, visit www.energycenter.org/roadshow.
