What is Energy Upgrade California?
Building upon an unprecedented alliance of state agencies, counties, cities, utilities and community organizations, Energy Upgrade California is a collaborative effort, aimed at meeting the state’s ambitious energy and climate goals with a comprehensive and coherent statewide marketing, education and outreach campaign. This campaign is designed to communicate the broad value proposition of demand side energy management to consumers and “encourage behavior changes that save energy, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and support clean energy solutions,” including participation in state and local programs.
The goals of Energy Upgrade California:
1. Help residential and small commercial consumers understand the value of energy efficiency, demand response, and distributed generation, thereby stimulating demand for products, services and rates for their homes and businesses that enable them to use energy more efficiently, use renewable energy, shift their use away from peak hours as needed and, in turn, save money and enjoy related comfort, health and safety benefits.
2. Work with contractors, realtors, retailers, builders and other market actors who serve residential and small business consumers to help them become more knowledgeable about the value and benefits of energy efficiency, demand response, and distributed generation so they can aid consumers in finding products and services.
3. Drive consumer action with consistent and clear educational information and tools to help consumers choose their best energy solutions including statewide resources that feature and promote specific state and local energy and water education, financing and incentive programs.
